LS IV A photography project by Luca Tombolini

Talking about his work as a form of meditation, Luca Tombolini aims to capture the longevity of landscapes compared to human’s fleeting existence but also connect with those that have looked on the same vistas before him.

“In my photography I’m following a fascination for desert primordial places. “No other places are so helpful in making that mind shift needed to try to enquire beyond our limited lifetime.

My work stems from a pre-photographic fascination with deserts, while taking pictures became a self-analysis of that early feeling. Notwithstanding our limited perceptional possibilities, these pictures are the mirror of this personal process of contemplation and suspension over Time, Space, Existent.”

Based in Milan, Luca has been practising large-format film photography since 2011, primarily focusing on capturing the graphic forms of remote places offering abstract and primordial shapes to create otherworldly scene.
