street photography, colorful images with high contrast and shadows in Morocco, Africa, by ivan Margot

Morocco A photography project by Ivan Margot

Morocco for me, is a country that is directly related to the photographs of Magnum photographer Harry Gruyaert. I find myself constantly there. My work is closer to research, free from the constraints of thematic or chronological logic.

After my second trip to Morocco, I gave up black and white photography entirely because colour photos made a lot more sense in this place.

As Gruyaert himself said: “Color is more physical than black and white, more intellectual and abstract. In front of a black and white photo, we want to understand what is happening between the characters. With color we must be immediately affected by the different tones that express a situation.”
