    Judge: Francesco Merlini

Francesco Merlini is an Italian photographer and photo editor at the international photographic agency Prospekt.

Working primarily in black & white, Francesco likes to explore reality using it as a mirror to reflect upon himself in order to create unique visual languages. From the vivid tones and textures of the series โ€˜Farangโ€™ to the extreme grey spectrum of โ€˜Le Tchad Denseโ€™, Francesco Merlini likes to work out of his comfort zone, always evolving and often moving in extreme contrast.

After covering Italian news for publications such as Internazionale, Rolling Stone, Le Monde or Wired, Francesco Merlini now works mainly on personal long-term projects, corporate-work and editorials. His work has been published in the MONO book Vol. One alongside renowned photographers such as Daido Moryiama, Anders Petersen and Antoine Dโ€™Agata.

His project โ€˜Farangโ€™ has been recently exhibited in Paris and his photography has been featured on TIME Lightbox among the new most interesting contemporary Black & White photographers.
