The Color Photography Award aim to discover and bring exposure to the best contemporary artists working across all photographic fields.
On this occasion we invited photographers driven by their artistic eye and passion for color to join the competition and celebrate with us the beauty and diversity of color photography.

“What I find interesting about this photo is that the photographer has managed to create a parallel world in which the choice of colors plays a vital part. With a surrealist touch, the artist succeeds in exploring the way we recognize our planet, almost choosing the colors of the landscape themselves. To me, all the elements; light, color, composition and subject matter, all work really well to convey this message.” – Sanja Marusic
2ND PRIZE: Nana Yaw Oduro
“This photo has elements of suspense which leads me to ask questions such as “what are these men doing?” and “where are they going?”. The intrigue is further exaggerated by the striking colors and the proximity of the men’s hands, as though they were holding one another. The photographer’s choice to shoot in portrait format, with nothing but the yellow-brown of the ground as a background, helps the colors of their shorts really pop out, retaining an abstract feel.” – Sanja Marusic
3RD PRIZE: Martin Tscholl
“Initially, the composition of this photo makes it difficult to tell that we are looking at a glacial landscape. The photographer’s choice to focus on the texture and colours of the ice elevate this image from a typical topographic study to a poetic survey of one of nature’s most fluctuating terrains. Here we see in detail the complexity of the ice caps in flux, accentuated by a variety of colors. Blues, greys and browns symbolise decay and remind us of the imposing environmental crisis, whilst also emphasising the beauty of nature”– The Independent Photographer Editors

Judge: Sanja Marušić
Dutch-Croatian photographer Sanja Marušić received her first camera at the age of fifteen. Two years later she got into the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, Netherlands and in 2013 she graduated with an Honourable Award.
Marušić travels the world to create otherworldly images. Her experimental approach to colour, composition, materials and manipulations lead to dreamlike, cinematic yet alienating scenes, playing with our relation to the subconscious.
Sabja Marušić is a member of The Independent Photographer’s community of artists and her work has been widely exhibited and published in international magazines such as The New York Times, Elle, Kalutbult, Vice and GUP Magazine.
