  • medium format analog color portrait of a skinhead girl in London, UK by Owen Harvey

    Winning Photographer Owen Harvey

    Winning Photographer Owen Harvey

    โ€œMykie, Skinheadโ€ - Hackney, London, UK
Skinheads drew influence from the early Mod style and originally had the music of 1960โ€™s Jamaican musicians as their soundtrack. Those involved in the subculture had a sense of working-class pride and this attribute was often recognized in the white and black youth, who grew up across England. The distinct skinhead look went on to be adopted by various fascist groups and many original skinheads felt it was time to abandon their style, due to the negative association. Some true skinheads refused to give up their style, which ultimately caused a divide within the subculture between those with differing political stances. ยฉ Owen Harvey

โ€œLily, Jason, and three of their childrenโ€ - Palmwoods, Australia
A portrait of Lily, Jason, and three of their children under the fig tree on an Autumn afternoon. I wanted to portray this family in the most honest, unguarded and authentic way. The idea was to set up the foundations of a more traditional family portrait; allowing it to break apart naturally, in order to capture that ideal moment of tension and tenderness - which gently mirrors the contradicting elements of early parenthood and the newborn days. ยฉ Amy Woodward

    Title: โ€œPeter: Venus as a Boyโ€ - London, UK
Editorial for โ€œFucking Youngโ€ - This image is part of a larger series titled โ€˜Venus as a Boyโ€™, which explores the blurred lines between sex, gender and desire through a visual allegory of the perennial deity, Venus. In this story, Venus descends from Olympus to traverse the human world, only this time she is in the form of a mortal man. The series displays Venusโ€™ own personal journey from her initial awkwardness of her unfamiliar surroundings to a goddess, confident in her skin and sexuality under the lustful gaze of (wo)man. ยฉ Kevin Anaafi-Brown

โ€œChildren of the Ghazipur monsterโ€ - Ghazipur landfill, India, 2021
Under the thick fog of pollution of New Delhi, in India, hides a deformed hill. An unsightly mountain in a flat region. When the wind blows and the horizon clears, its menacing silhouette appears little by little, revealing its true nature. Today, the mountain of garbage has surpassed the height of the Taj Mahal and covers an area as large as more than forty soccer fields. At the top of the Ghazipur dump, under the raptors which prowl by thousands, friendships are created. It is the case of these two young girls, best friends and both waste pickers. ยฉ Robin Tutenges

    โ€œBreathingโ€ - Milan, Italy
โ€œI read an interview with Joe Pugliese, an American portrait photographer, and at a certain point I find: โ€œIf you trust me and let me guide you, thereโ€™s a chance for us to make something special.โ€ I think back to a few days ago and the moment I took this picture and I would say thatโ€™s definitely what happened, and how good this feeling is.โ€ ยฉ Fabio Salmoirago
