The Street Photography Competition aims to celebrate and reward photographers for being best at observing and recording life on the streets.
Whether the subject was your own urban environment or as you explored other territories and cultures: We were looking for those spontaneous and fleeting moments and it is our great pleasure to present the work of these incredibly talented artists!

1ST PRIZE: Szymon Lewinski
โAll the elements in this frame are balanced and in harmony. The photographer manages to transcend the reality of the image โ a rare ability in contemporary documentary photography. It could also be reportage, but more profound and at the same time more poetic than we are used to.โ โ Nikos Economopoulos
2ND PRIZE: Barry Talis
โContent and form are in harmony in this image. The predominant element is the kid that tries to balance out on the wall โ it is also the strongest. Then thereโs the white lining of the hat on the bottom left corner, the standing man on the right and, of course, the reflections of the black-clad men. A different alignment of the people on the top could work better. Color doesnโt play a distinct role, it might as well be black and white, maybe it would have been better. Overall, it remains a realistic depiction, still compelling.โ โ Nikos Economopoulos
3RD PRIZE: Andreas Bauer
โAndreas Bauer has captured something candid and arresting that transcends cliche-ridden portrayals of the Cuban capital. The choice of framing, achieved in part by the low-angled viewpoint; the combination of textures and vivid colors: it is an image that grows increasingly intriguing with each moment, revealing subtle, and potentially, instructive details. The weary driver resting against his car; the crouched man attending to his motorcycle; the woman on the left (barely discernible at first glance) leaning against the crumbling colonial facade: all three subjects seemingly frozen in time, a metaphor perhaps for the country as a whole. โ โ The Independent Photographer Editors

Judge: Nikos Economopoulos
A member of Magnum Photos since 1990, Nikos Economopoulos has received several awards for his work in the Balkans and Turkey and he is the author of two books.
In his images, we discover countries that are not so distant from Western Europe but in which time seems to stand still. Thanks to his sense of composition and space, his subjects do not seem out of place, even in barren and seemingly endless landscapes. His pictures are powerful and full of warmth, but never cute.
Economopoulos regularly teach and work around the world, in the context of his long-term On The Road project.โ โ
